On the Automechanika 2004 MIP presents the second generation of
A
the waterbased basecoat-mixing-system MIP WBC. The significant
A
advantages of the first version are now combined with the latest
knowledge of research and development and result together in a top product for the
future of car refinishing.
The mixing tinters are unchanged by number and still available in 0,5 ltr.-
and 1 ltr.-containers depending on the usage of the relevant tinter. The new packaging
however, are plastic bottles which are easy to handle and which can be closed very
tightly.
After the first opening of the sealing cap the special Mipa WBC dosing lids can be
screwed on.
With 10-20 % Mipa WBC Thinner the formulations, which are mixed corresponding to
Mipamix 4 Win, are adjusted ready to spray. For a further „fine-tuning“ of the drying
times Mipa WBS Accelerator and Mipa WBS Retarder are available as additives.
The new quality can be applied with a very smooth surface and without clouding. The
curing and drying times of Mipa WBC are still very short compared to most other
common waterbased products on the market.
For a final perfection of the colour, a dust coat is absolutely necessary.
For the new containers of Mipa WBC a new Mipa WBC storage shelf has been created.
It is planned for a maximum of 70 containers and therefore spaceous enough for the
future. Already in the standard version there is the possibility to store one extra tin per
tinter behind the tin in use.
The innovative power behind the renovation of Mipa WBC opens the way into the future
of waterbased basecoats. The existing good basis of the first generation has been
used for a significant improvement.

News The colour spectrum of international automotive painting
Automechanika comprises more than 50,000 different shades, and
worldwide hundreds more are added each year through adjustment to
customer tastes and new pigment technologies. Due to the
international availability of almost every vehicle brand,
practically every colour nuance can be found on cars in
every corner of the Earth.
Only through complex mixing systems is it possible to supply each of these colour
shades
- precisely,
- promptly and
- in any amount,
on an international basis. With Mipa car refinishing paint systems, any desired
shade can be produced according to customer wishes using only a few basic
components and computer-assisted formulas. The requirements for the success
of these mixing systems include exercising the highest precision in the production of
the basic components as well as in the generation of formulas.
Depending on the area of application and sales region, a variety of Mipa mixing systems
can be employed. Due to restrictive solvent laws, the high solid and waterbased
technology has become prevalent in Europe. In comparison, more compact systems
suffice for the commercial vehicle sector, since the colour selection in this segment is
smaller. MIP even has a separate system for its historical roots of automotive painting

– for the agricultural and construction vehicle sector.
Quality Made in Germany
Sandstorm or perpetual frost – around the world, automotive paints are relentlessly
exposed to all kinds of environmental factors. In order to prevent a vehicle from
depreciating due to environmental influences, the paint must resist damage and
destruction by these adverse conditions.
This demand on car paints must be met. That is why MIP AG relies on a consistent

quality policy, beginning with the selection of the raw materials and culminating in
customer satisfaction. MIP produces all of its car coating products itself, meaning that

they can be perfectly coordinated with one another. Because it is not only the topcoat
that determines durability and appearance of automotive coating; all products play an

Automechanika Mipa 2K-HS-Clearcoat CSR contains very small
worldwide nano-particles, which im-prove the hardness of
the surface significantly. By mixing with Mipa 2K-
HS-Hardener HSR a VOC-value of less than 420
g/ltr. is reached. The high solid content of the
product allows for significant savings in time and
material consumption. Further infor-mation can be received from our Mipa technicians
any time.
The full resistance of the product is reached after minimum 30 minutes drying at 80° C
object temperature. Next to its scratch resistance the clearcoat shows an “Easy-to-
Clean-surface”, which nearly reaches anti-graffitti-quality. Soft pens or other dirt can
easily be removed.
A different way is taken by Mipa 2K-HS-Clearcoat CS 85. The product, which is
VOC-compliant in the cate-gory “special products”, features the so-called reflow-
technology. Scratches in the fully cured clearcoat-surface are closing themselves
under the influence of heat such as sun beams and therefore are self-curing. The
product is ready to spray after mixing with Mipa 2K-HS-hardeners and needs no special
drying conditions in order to develop its full effect.
Independent tests have confirmed the effect of both clearcoats even against
competitive products. Depending on the technical and economic conditions one can
choose between the products, which both show a significantly higher scratch
resistance compared to conventional clearcoats.
Even pigmented 2K-top coats with improved scratch resistance are possible, however
are rather suited for industrial applications.

Automechanika As a successor of the established paint system Mipa PUR for
worldwide commercial vehicles Mipa will present on the Automechanika 2006
in Frankfurt the newly developed system Mipa PUR HS, which will
be complaint to the European VOC-limits.
As one can guess from the name the experiences of the long-
term successful system are the basis for Mipa PUR HS. With a small number of mixing
tinters the system will cover the complete spectrum of solid colours for commercial
vehicles. Colour systems such as RAL, NCS, British Standard, truck colours of all
common brands, fleet colours and colours of agricultural and construction machines will
be available.
Mipa PUR HS can be applied in different hardener combinations. The well-known 2:1
ratio with Mipa MS-Hardeners is ideal for the manual application by spray-gun. The use
of concentrated HS- or even VHS-Hardeners allows for an adjustment of the system to
automated 2K-applicators, airless paintwork or spraying robots without having to
change the paint itself. All combinations result in a VOC-value of less than 420 g/ltr. if
the thinner addition is kept according to the product information.
The high solid content of Mipa PUR HS makes significant savings in material and time
consumption possible. With an excellent flow, durable gloss and highest resistance
values costs can be actively reduced and at the same time quality of the paintwork can
be increased.
Mipa PUR HS is compatible with all established Mipa commercial vehicle product and can
even be used with water based Mipa primers.
An innovation as well is presented with the new Mipa PUR 2K-HS-Chassispaints with a
VOC-value of less than 420 g/ltr. In application identical to Mipa PUR HS as described
earlier the chassis paint is available ready mixed in standard colours and is designed
for the paintwork on vehicle chassis with an attractive price level.
These new products as well as the combination with all by-products are shown to the
user in specialized seminars in the Mipa Training Center in Essenbach. The introduction
of the products at the customer is guided on-site by the Mipa technicians.
